Marston Sawyers has spent seven years pointing a camera at the hardest things humans willingly do to themselves. Rim to Rim to Rim. The Red Bull 400 up a ski jump in Japan. Months on the road with his Buttery Bros co-creators Heber and Julian, chasing stories worth telling.
But the most honest story in this conversation isn't about any of that.
It's about a man who grew up without a healthy example of home life, spent years unsure if fatherhood was something he even wanted, and then at 38 heard the words he didn't know he was ready for.

His son's name is Sage. They chose it in a treehouse in Tulum — both wrote independent lists, compared them, and found the same name on each one. Born July 30th. Ten months old and already changing everything about how Marston sees the world.
Not the travel. Not the YouTube channel. Not the CrossFit competitions or the endurance events or the collaborations with HWPO. The thing that cracked him open most was something quieter — his kid looking at him, and him thinking: what kind of man does he need to see?
You get to re-experience things from your own childhood through his eyes. And I look at that and think: how can I provide what's best?

The Lesson
Timing matters more than readiness. Most people wait to feel ready for the big things — parenthood, commitment, leaving, starting over. But readiness is rarely a feeling. It's a season.
Marston didn't become a father because he had it figured out. He became one because he'd done enough work on himself to meet the moment without running from it. The peace came first. The decision followed.
Go do hard things with people you love. That's where the real inspiration lives.
